Editorial Intern-KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market

The Editorial Intern for the KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market will be responsible for creating a weekly blog post that highlights KITCHEN activities and events with the goal of engaging visitors in the broader work of The Trustees and the Boston Public Market. The Intern will be expected to both write content and coordinate guest bloggers, which will include scheduling future blog posts according to the editorial calendar and editing and finalizing guest posts. 

While the position is unpaid, the intern will gain valuable writing and digital marketing experience, a letter of recommendation, connections to local food companies and partners, and valuable non-profit experience. Interns are able to attend KITCHEN events for free and receive a discount to Boston Public Market vendors.

Reports to:
KITCHEN Engagement Site Manager 

Commitment:
•September 2016 start date, flexible based on applicant availability 
•Approximately 10 hours per week,  fluctuating between 5-15 hours depending on the week
•Applicants must be willing to work through the end of December at a minimum with the option of extending through June. 
•Work can be done remotely with weekly in-person meetings.
*This position is unpaid, school credit is optional

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Working with the Engagement Site Manager and the Director to develop and edit content for the KITCHEN blog according to the editorial calendar
•Promote KITCHEN initiatives through strategic and cohesive messaging and partnerships with stakeholders, chefs, speakers, and other related parties
•Develop a writing style for the KITCHEN that is: warm & welcoming, fun & entertaining, and establishes the KITCHEN as an authority on food systems and seasonal cooking in Boston
•Log internship hours in the Hands on Connect database weekly 

Qualifications
•The ideal applicant will be a talented researcher, communicator, and writer with the ability to adapt their writing to the KITCHEN blog style and work closely with the Engagement Site Manager and Director to execute the editorial calendar. 
•Must be comfortable working in a self-directed and fast-paced environment. 
•Applicants must be tech-savvy and interested in local food, cooking, health, environment, historic preservation, conservation, land stewardship, visitor engagement, land management, and the Boston food system.
