Opportunity Overview:
Appleton Farms consists of rolling grasslands, grazing livestock, stone walls, vegetable crops, and historic farm buildings, offering a rare glimpse into New England’s agricultural past. As an active working farm which hosts kid’s camp, educational activities, hikes, events, adult programming and more . . . our offices are always bustling with activity! Currently, our staff are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about furthering the cause of community-focused land conservation, promoting preservation and farm-based education. This position will be guided by, and report to, the Appleton Farms staff and focus on the needs of the Appleton Farms portfolio. We are looking for people who are creative, reliable, and interested in supporting The Trustees’ mission. This position is great for someone interested in learning and/or supporting the administrative side of property stewardship.

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
Assist with one or more of the following, depending on skills and interests:
- Greet and assist office visitors and volunteers
- Assist with volunteer service time tracking
- Assist with filing and organizing
- Assist with developing data management system to track project-based stewardship staff time and assist with entry/management of staff time
- Other general office duties in accordance with applicant’s skill, experience, and interests
- May include: supply coordination, emailing
- Adhere to The Trustees safety and COVID-19 protocols
- Log volunteer hours
Qualifications:
- Must be dependable, responsible, responsive, and detail oriented
- Able to use computers with preferred skills including: internet searches, Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher (varies with project)
- Excellent communication skills, especially writing and editing
- The ideal candidate will be able to assist within our staff offices with occasional remote projects as they are available
- For remote projects, the volunteer must have their own computer, phone and internet access
- Please note: a background check may be required for this role
Time Commitment Needed:
Preferred 3 or more hours per week (ideally in one block), minimum of 8 hours per month
