Garden Volunteer - Field Farm

Opportunity Overview:
Enjoy the serenity and viewscapes of Field Farm while working outside and helping care for the property surrounding this post World War II modern era inn in Williamstown. Please assist us with garden maintenance, landscaping, statue cleaning, invasive plant removal, light trail maintenance and more.  Many opportunities for groups and individuals! Tools provided.

Reports to: Innkeeper

Benefits:

  • Connecting and networking with like-minded staff, visitors, and volunteers 
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
  • Planting, watering, weeding throughout the season
  • Other landscaping work as needed
  • Garden Statues: wash (as instructed) to remove bird wastes; weed gravel beds
  • Assist with fall leaf removal and putting beds to rest
  • Communicate effectively with staff and other volunteers
  • Adhere to The Trustees safety protocols
  • Log volunteer hours
Qualifications:
  • Have reliable transportation to the Farm
  • Able to perform vigorous work outside, using hand tools
  • Comfortable taking on a project and working on it independently or with others, if workday related
  • Able to walk over various outdoor surfasces as well as lift/carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Able to work in seasonal weather conditions
  • For rose garden care, knowledge of roses preferred but not required
  • Please note: A background check is required for this role
Time Commitment:
We’re flexible! Varies. Significant assistance needed in spring and summer. Our ideal schedule would be for 2-3 volunteers to work together once or twice a week for a 6-8 hour day.
