Firewood Processor - Weir River Farm

Opportunity Overview:
Come join a vibrant group of staff and volunteers at Weir River Farm! This volunteer position would assist the staff in processing and splitting wood to be used in the outdoor furnace which is used through the winter to heat the facilities. Staff are dedicated to volunteers, sharing knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate should be at least 18 years old.

 

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following);
  • Running a wood splitter and sorting wood into hardwood and softwood piles
  • Communicating regularly with stewardship staff
  • Abide by all safety standards
  • Adhering to The Trustees' safety and Covid-19 protocols
  • Log volunteer hours
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge or desire to learn hardwood/softwood sorting
  • Desire to be outside in the winter months running a hydraulic woodsplitter
  • Ability to lift upwards of 30 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors
  • Able to work on a team and/or independently
Time Commitment:
Flexible schedule, working with staff to accommodate your availability; 4 hours per week with a minimum 3 month commitment preferred but not required.
