Events & Public Programs - Appleton Farms

Opportunity Overview:
Join us and be part of the team that makes all of our large-scale events so successful. Volunteers will help with set up and tear down of events, assist with activities, check-in visitors and provide wayfinding information. Sign-up for a shift, joining our experienced team.

Reports to: Property Staff

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
  • Assist with set up and clean up, including the ability to lift tables and chairs
  • Welcome visitors, check in guests, answer questions about the Farm and the Trustees
  • Communicate effectively with staff and other volunteers
  • Help lead events and recreation alongside Appleton staff
  • Help run or oversee a variety of family-friendly activities. Events are all different and the tasks are based on the type of event you sign up for. See the listing for more information!
  • Observance of Trustees safety protocols

Qualifications:
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Friendly and outgoing personality
  • Enjoy working with people
  • Ability to walk on a variety of surfaces
  • Ability to lift upwards of 20 pounds in order to help with set-up and break down

About Appleton Farms:
Appleton Farms is the oldest continually operating farm in the United States, established in 1636 by Samuel Appleton. Appleton Farms has been a Trustees property since 1998. The farm covers nearly 1,000 acres, 28.5 of which is farmed for Community Supported Agriculture. Appleton Farms is home to grazing cattle, historic buildings and many ecological wonders.
