Vegetable Garden Volunteer - SCHG
Opportunity Overview:
Join our garden team at Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens in North Andover this summer to help harvest vegetables from the French Garden. In the French Garden, we grow vegetables and donate them to Neighbors in Need. Throughout the late summer and fall (July-October), we need help to harvest produce from the vegetable garden, wash the vegetables, and call up the organization for pick up twice a week. We do not grow a massive amount of vegetables, but what we hope to do with this role is make sure we don't waste anything we do grow.
This role is good for an experienced vegetable gardener available on weekdays to help us keep up with the harvest and provide produce to Neighbors in Need.
Reports to: Horticulturist
Time Commitment Needed:
Volunteers should be able to come twice a week on weekdays for an hour/two hours per visit throughout the harvest season July-October
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
Harvest and wash vegetables from the French Garden
Call up Neighbors in Need to come pick up the produce
Adhere to The Trustees safety protocols and training
Log volunteer hours
Qualifications:
Able to make a commitment to volunteering for the harvest season July-October
Experienced in harvesting vegetables
Able to be outdoors for an extended amount of time in the summer heat
Volunteers need to be able to lift 25 pounds
Minimum age: 18 years old
