Garden Workday - Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens

Opportunity Overview:
At Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens in North Andover, we are currently recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to assist in maintaining our gardens and landscape.  Join the property horticulturist to learn as you go. We meet in front of the garage at 113 Andover Street for daily instruction and then off to maintain the gardens. The skills you will learn will be transferable to your own gardens. Rain or shine!

Meet at the garage of 115 Andover Street (Brick Duplex). Park in the volunteer parking lot across the street off Chestnut Street.  Find us in the gardens if you are late. We take a break to socialize, snack, hydrate, warm up or cool down mid-morning. You are welcome to bring treats to share if you would like!

Reports to: Horticulturist and other Trustees staff

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):

  • Listen to instructions to know how to care for the plants and use the proper techniques
  • Be able to use garden equipment, wheelbarrows, and pruners safely
  • Adhere to The Trustees safety protocols
  • Sign up for shifts

Qualifications:

  • Have reliable transportation to the property
  • Demonstrate good communication skills
  • Friendly and polite demeanor
  • Dress in appropriate clothes and footwear for varying weather conditions
  • Familiarity with the property or area, is not required
  • Ability to walk on a variety of surfaces: grass, pavement, uneven surfaces

Time Commitment:
During the growing season from April to October, we meet every Wednesday from 9:00 am-12:00 pm. Join one shift or as many as fit your schedule!
