Entry Garden Volunteer - SCHG
Opportunity Overview:
At Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens in North Andover, we are looking for an experienced gardener to join us in caring for our Entry Garden. The SCHG Entry Gardens are designed in the New American Garden style with masses of ornamental grasses and strong drifts of native flowers and pollinator plants. During the growing season, the garden is alive with pollinators of all sorts and it needs a lot of care to flourish.
Volunteers must be very comfortable with plant and weed identification and be available for three hours/week of volunteering. Volunteers will consult with the horticulturist as needed, but this is an independent, self-directed role, and is a great fit for experienced gardeners looking to lead in a space in a public garden.
Reports to: Horticulturist
Time Commitment Needed:
Volunteers should come to the garden once or twice a week for three hours or more, April-October
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
Support the care of the garden with staking, cutting back, weeding, planting, collecting seed, dividing, pruning, mulching, edging and more
Adhere to The Trustees safety protocols and training
Log volunteer hours
Qualifications:
Able to make a commitment to volunteering for the growing season April-October
Experienced in weed and plant identification
Able to be outdoors for an extended amount of time in the summer heat
Able to lift 25 lbs, bending over
Minimum age: 18 years old
Please note: A background check is required for this role
