Opportunity Overview:
The Trustees of Reservations is looking for dedicated volunteers to water the plant life in the various gardens
Stevens-Coolidge House and Gardens in North Andover. Garden Watering volunteers will work independently and with staff to ensure proper plant watering. You will have the opportunity to learn from our experienced staff at one of the Trustees premier public gardens.
Garden Watering for the 2024 season will start on the week of April 8th. That week, volunteers will meet with the Horticulturist to train, and then they will be able to volunteer independently on
Saturdays and Sundays until October. This role is weather dependent, so the need for volunteers will change with the weather conditions.

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
- Work independently to water plant life on weekly schedule
- Volunteers will check containers around the property and water if needed, deadhead, and occasionally, help with watering new plantings in the beds as well.
- Maintain communication with staff
- Log volunteer hours in Volunteer Connect
Qualifications:
- Ability to use handheld irrigation tools such as hoses and watering wands
- This role requires carrying watering cans short distances and walking the full property
- With training by staff, ability to learn irrigation needs of various plant life
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate with staff
- Dress in appropriate clothes and footwear that can get wet
- Ability to walk on a variety of surfaces including grass or uneven surfaces
- Ideal candidates would be able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
- Previous garden experience preferred, but not required
- Have reliable transportation to the property
- Please note: A background check is required for this role
Time Commitment:
Flexible scheduling on the
weekends however watering volunteers must commit to watering for 2 hours per day with a minimum of one day per week April-October.
