Opportunity Details

Trustees Trails 101

Opportunity Overview:

Staff and volunteers of the Charles River Valley (CRV) Management Unit are proud to launch a two-part Trails Learning Initiative over the coming months. The goal is to share information about current, past and future trail projects accomplished through the generous time and talent of the CRV volunteer trail crew.  Part 1 will include a discussion of the projects and the planning, communication, and collaboration between staff and volunteers that makes this feasible and rewarding.  Part 2 includes safety topics, tool usage, trail maintenance, and basic trail design.

Part 1 will occur remotely via ZOOM the evening of March 1, 2023 from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm. The format will be interactive with plenty of opportunities for discussion.

Part 2 will occur April 26, 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm, in person, at Rocky Woods in Medfield. The session will cover hands-on skills before setting out to put those skills to use on a trail project. Please wear appropriate clothing for a spring day including sturdy shoes/boots. We suggest wearing layers, work gloves, hat and bringing refillable water bottle and snacks. Participation is limited to ensure safety for all.
