Mechanic Volunteer - Chestnut Hill Farm

Opportunity Overview:
Located in Southborough, Chestnut Hill Farm is a hidden gem that provides organic vegetables to the local community through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and farm stand. It is a growing endeavor with 250 members. The property is a happy and bustling gathering space for our community throughout the season and we would love to have you join us. As a non-profit and a Trustees property, the farm is also committed to a level of community engagement and education that goes beyond agriculture to include community building and support.

Currently, Chestnut Hill Farm is seeking talented and experienced individuals with a background in any equipment and automotive repair. Most of this work will be carried out individually with several opportunities to work on larger projects and to assist or lead Trustees’ staff or volunteers.

Please note: Volunteers will be asked to provide references.

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
  • Provide professional advice on subject matter of expertise
  • Perform repairs on equipment such as vehicles, tractors, implements, small engines, and power tools
  • Keep workshop clean and organized.
  • Observance of Trustees safety guidelines and protocols
  • Log volunteer hours weekly
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge, skill, and experience in working on tractors, implements and trucks preferred
  • Knowledge of power/hand tools and an understanding of safety
  • Ability to work with tools of the trade
  • Ability to organize assigned tasks, for completion alone or with help
  • Ability to work alone and as a part of a team
  • Solid communication skills to update staff on project status and needs
Time Commitment:
Minimum of 10 to 12 hours per month with a 3-month commitment. Flexible schedule. Ideally, volunteer would have some weekday availability to work alongside staff as needed.
