Opportunity Overview:
Naumkeag is a public garden and historic home in the heart of the Berkshires. Stroll through the 8 acres of our world-renowned gardens decorated with over 130,000 daffodil, tulip and other bulbs as we celebrate spring. Our 48-acre estate in the heart of Stockbridge will come to life with the colors and spirit of spring with a variety of blooms, containers, displays and decorations against the backdrop of stunning views of Monument Mountain and the Berkshire Hills. The Trustees is looking for outgoing and engaging volunteers to harvest and assemble floral bouquets from the gardens for our visitors. Join the property staff to learn as you go and get the work done at the same time. We meet for some instruction and then off to pick flowers and bundle bouquets. Rain or shine!
This opportunity is for individuals who enjoy working outside with their hands and have an interest in gardens or Naumkeag. No previous knowledge of the property or a green thumb is required, just an excitement to work as a team and spend the morning in flowers.
Harvesting will take place Wednesday – Monday, from 9am to 12noon. Groups of 10-12 people will harvest 50-100 bouquets each shift

More about Naumkeag
This 48-acre architectural masterpiece is, at its heart, a family home. In 1884, Joseph Choate, a prominent New York attorney and U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain, and his wife, Caroline, hired the famous architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White to design a summer retreat. The result was a 44-room shingle-style home, where several generations of the Choate family lived until daughter Mabel Choate bequeathed it to The Trustees in 1958.
