Opportunity Overview:
Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens exemplifies the rural retreats of wealthy urbanites of the early 1900s. Today, the gardens are currently undergoing a revitalizing expansion, and The Trustees is looking for outgoing and engaging volunteers to join us in welcoming visitors to the exciting new gardens as a Property Ambassador.
 
As a Visitor Services Volunteer, volunteers will assist within our gift shop, meet and greet our guests and help our visitors with admission to the property. Visitor Services Volunteers may also share information about the property, answer general questions about events, programs and workshops and the benefits of membership. Volunteer shifts are available daily from 10:00 pm – 1:00 pm. This opportunity is for individuals who enjoy talking to people and have an interest in gardens or gardening, local Massachusetts’ history, or Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens.

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
  • Communicate effectively with staff and other volunteers
  • Provide an excellent experience for members, visitors, and their families
  • Greet and direct visitors
  • Educate the public about the mission of the Trustees and the benefits of being a Trustees’ member
  • Interact with visitors, answer questions about the property, events, programs, and workshops
  • Gather information from visitors for mailing lists and promotional outreach
  • Assist with special programs on an occasional basis
  • Assist with light property clean-up, if needed
  • Assist with administrative projects such as updating bulletin boards, restocking pamphlets & flyers
  • Observance of Trustees safety and COVID protocols
  • Log volunteer hours weekly
Qualifications:
  • Have reliable transportation to the property
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Desire to meet with the public, share knowledge of the property and The Trustees
  • Dress in appropriate clothes and footwear for varying weather conditions
  • Flexible and independent
  • Familiarity with Stevens-Coolidge House and Gardens [preferred, but not required]
  • Ability to walk on a variety of surfaces: grass, pavement, uneven surfaces
  • Ability to pick up lightweight objects from ground level
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged
  • Minimum age: 18 years old
  • Note: a background check may be required
Time Commitment Needed:
Daily, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and/or 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to work at least two, two-hour shifts each month.
