Wednesday Garden Crew - Haskell
Opportunity Overview:
In the heart of New Bedford lies the former nursery of Allen C. Haskell: six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, historic buildings, and more than half an acre of greenhouse space. Volunteers are invited to drop-in Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside our talented Horticulturist and other volunteers. The skills you learn will be transferable to your own home garden! No previous gardening skills required, just a helping hand and an interest in learning! Please bring gardening gloves, your own hand tools and drinking water.

We’re flexible . . . join us every Wednesday or on Wednesdays which fit your schedule!
Please note: This is a weather dependent event and will be cancelled in the likelihood of extreme weather.

- Ability to work as part of a team while following directions
- Adherence to The Trustees safety and COVID-19 protocols
- Sign-up for your availability
- Have reliable transportation to the garden
- A love of gardening and the outdoors
- An eagerness to participate in maintaining gardens
- Ability to use hand tools
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and to kneel, lift up to 10 pounds, pull and dig
- Ability to walk on a variety surfaces including grass, cobblestones, brick, gravel as well as the ability to navigate stairs
- Ability to follow instructions and work on a team
- Have appropriate clothing and footwear for outdoor activity
- Please note: a background check may be required for this role
