Opportunity Overview:
The gardens at
Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens in North Andover recently underwent a revitalizing expansion, and The Trustees is looking for outgoing and engaging volunteers to join us in welcoming visitors to the exciting new gardens. Garden Tour Guides will lead groups of visitors on tours of the grounds and engage them in conversation about the beauty, history, and importance of the Stevens-Coolidge gardens.
This opportunity is for individuals who enjoy talking to people and have an interest in gardens or gardening, local Massachusetts’ history, or Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens. Training will be provided, so no previous knowledge of the property or a green thumb is required, just an excitement to learn.
Tours will take place on select Saturday's at 11:00 AM for groups of up to 20 visitors. The tours will be 40-50 minutes in length and include a short 1/4 mile walk through the gardens on crushed stone pathways and grass. This volunteer opportunity is wheelchair accessible.
Training will take place
Tuesday, June 6th at 5:00 PM in person at Stevens Coolidge House and Gardens.

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
- Lead walking tours of the gardens, providing information about the collections and garden history
- Engage visitors in conversation about the plants, gardens, Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens, and the mission of The Trustees
- Provide information regarding The Trustees including events/programs, volunteer opportunities, and benefits of membership
- Report # of tour participants
- Communicate effectively with the public, staff and other volunteers
- Adhere to The Trustees safety and COVID-19 protocols
- Log volunteer hours online in Volunteer Connect
Qualifications:
- Have excellent communication skills
- Friendly and outgoing personality
- Have reliable transportation to the property
- Enjoy working with people
- Minimum age: 18. Volunteers 16 years old and younger will require adult supervision
- Bilingual candidates encouraged
Time Commitment:
The minimum time commitment for this role is 2 weekend shifts per month with additional opportunities if desired.
