Welcome Gate Attendant - Appleton Farms

Opportunity Overview:
The Trustees is seeking a seasonal Welcome Gate Attendant to assist at Appleton Farms to ensure visitors have a positive experience on the property. Attendants welcome all visitors, initiate membership discussions, advise about regulations, and answer questions. Welcoming thousands of visitors each year, our gate attendants are often the ones who give visitors their first impression of The Trustees.

Please note: a background check is required for this volunteer role

Covid-19 Volunteer Safety:
The health and safety of Trustees’ volunteers, staff and visitors is our top priority.
  • If you are not feeling well, please stay home 
  • If you have been in contact with someone with Covid-19 or someone displaying symptoms of Covid-19, please stay home 
  • Volunteers will be required to wear masks while on property 
  • Volunteers will be required to maintain proper social distancing 
  • Volunteers will be required to wash hands or use hand sanitizer upon arrival to the property 

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
  • Greet visitors in a warm and welcoming manner
  • Educate visitors about fees and how they may pay the nonmember parking fee
  • Educate visitors about the benefits of Trustees membership and how they can join
  • Inform visitors about pertinent regulations
  • Answer questions about the property, special events, programs, and more
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, and maintenance needs
  • Light cleaning of the gate booth
  • Recording daily visitation; performing opening and closing duties
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Adhere to The Trustees safety and COVID-19 protocols
  • Log volunteer hours
Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a customer service setting is strongly desired
  • Outgoing personality and comfortable engaging visitors in conversation
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Capable of working both independently and cooperatively with other staff
  • Flexibility to work holidays, evenings, and weekends required
  • Comfortable being outdoors in variable conditions
  • Candidates should be able to lift 40 pounds and be comfortable on feet for extended periods
  • You will receive training in visitor experience protocols, membership sales, Appleton Farms history and current operations.
Time Commitment:
Shifts available Saturdays 10:00am to 1:00pm and/or 1:00 pm-4:00pm and Sundays 10:00am to 1:00pm and/or 1:00 pm-4:00pm. This opportunity would begin immediately.
