Development Events & Operations - Hybrid

Opportunity Overview:
The Trustees is the steward of some of Massachusetts most popular destinations including Castle Hill on the Crane Estate and Crane Beach, as well as over 116 reservations including working farms, urban gardens, campgrounds, inns and National Historic and Natural Landmarks from the Berkshires to Greater Boston to the Cape and Islands.
 
The Development Events & Operations Hybrid Structured Volunteer Role will enable the volunteer to gain insight to the behind-the-scenes workings of a fast-paced Development Office. Raising $11M+ annually, executing tens of events, and with more than 1,000 donors at the $1,000+ level, the volunteer will be exposed to event management and execution from start to finish; the Raiser’s Edge database and procedures; and a basic background of what it is like to work in the Development profession. Our Development & Governance Events season kicks off in May, with the most intense concentration taking place during the summer months.

Reports to: Associate Director of Events, Development

Responsibilities (may include but is not limited to the following):
  • Assist with event vendor research
  • Filing and maintenance of development operation documents
  • Assist with event lead up preparations for registration needs in the Boston Office
  • Provide as needed development operations support including record maintenance, mailings, and research
  • While the majority of this volunteer role is remote, we will host a few in-person events.  We would require attendance at these events. 
    • Event dates: June 10, June 25, September 7
  • Log hours weekly
Qualifications:
  • Detail oriented and reliable
  • Ability to travel between reservations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Interest in learning more about Development Events and Operations
  • Ability to travel between Trustees’ properties
  • Reliable internet, computer and phone
  • Minimum age: 18 years old
  • Please note: a background check is required for this role

Time Commitment:
  • 18 hours minimum per week for 10-12 weeks
  • 3 days total (2 days in the Boston office and 1 remote, on one of our 122 reservations and at our events)
  • Hours and days flexible based on volunteer’s schedule, 2 days per week Monday-Friday availability required.
  • College credit may be available if this SVO meets an academic institution's parameters.
