Nocturnal Trail - Bird Park

Opportunity Overview:
Francis William Bird Park seeks volunteers to assist at their Nocturnal Trail on October 22. The event is from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm, so volunteers should plan on being on property from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm. During the “Nocturnal Trail” where children and their families can walk a pumpkin-lit wooded trail, learning about nocturnal animals in the park and trick-or-treating from four “nocturnal animals” (volunteers or staff dressed as a mouse, fox, bat, and owl) . . .  all in a COVID-19 safe environment!
 
This is a hands-on opportunity that will allow volunteers to connect more deeply with the community and the park, while also developing more skills around event planning and hosting. Successful volunteers are friendly, enthusiastic, willing to learn on the job, reliable, and good representatives of the Trustees.

Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
  • Meet and greet visitors
  • Provide wayfinding information to our guests
  • Assist with event set up and clean up
  • Manage some event tasks independently
  • Assist the Engagement Manager with tasks during the event to ensure smooth running of event
  • Adhere to The Trustees safety and COVID-19 guidelines
  • Provide information about The Trustees and benefits of membership
  • ‘Act’ as one of the nocturnal animals along the trail
  • Sign up for a shift
Qualifications:
  • Friendly and comfortable interacting with children
  • Some experience working on events (with adults or children) desired, but not required.
  • Interest in community engagement
  • Some knowledge about the property and The Trustees desired, but not required
  • Able to handle basic physical tasks (lift small objects, walk short distances on uneven surfaces)
  • Good work ethic and reliable
  • Please Note: A background check may be required for this role
