Opportunity Overview:
Combine your love of the outdoors with service, by working to care for Bullitt Reservation in Ashfield, MA. As a Steward, you’ll have the opportunity to support and work along with staff to help keep this property beautiful for all to enjoy; trail maintenance, parking area projects and more.
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to the following):
- Support and work along with staff on routine trail maintenance tasks like drainage structure cleaning and reinforcement, removing debris from trail surfaces, and cutting vegetation in and near the trails.
- Participate in work days to complete larger projects on trails, in parking areas and in wooded habitats, helping with new construction, repairs, and improvements.
- Adhere to The Trustees safety protocols
- Log volunteer hours
Qualifications:
- Able to perform vigorous work outside, ability to use hand tools and have basic knowledge of trail design principals.
- Comfortable taking on a project and working on it independently.
- Enjoy walking on the property, be conservation-minded, and willing to help maintain the property.
- Able to walk the trails and perform physical work; lifting, carrying.
- Commitment to reporting your service hours via the Trustees volunteer website.
Time Commitment Needed:
Varies, 3-4 hours per day of service, at least once per month for one or more seasons strongly preferred.
